Exclusive Australian stockist for pre-finished solid merbau timber decking

Made of Merbau, one of the most stable hardwood species in the world. Merbau’s other names include Kwila, Ipil, Vesi, Johnstone River Teak or Scrub Mahogany. Used in more than half of all Australian decks, Merbau is so popular due to its hardness and stability - even more stable than Teak and Afzelia. Contact us  today for a free sample!

The process

The merbau decking is 'washed' in the factory under high pressure, then it undergoes a pre-bleeding treatment, after which it is kiln dried to 16 per cent MC.

After this, two weeks of stabilising followed by a manual treatment produces two products:

1 - deep brushed
2 - sawn carved.

The oil

Rubio Monocoat

Finally the Merbau decking is oiled on all six sides with Rubio Monocoat. The face side comes in a beautiful coloured oil, and backside and sides are oiled with natural colour oil for protection. There are currently four colours to choose from, with more to come.

Fixing system

DeckWise Extreme4 is a hidden fixing system from the USA, used to secure your StarVintage Merbau decking.

On the long sides, the Merbau decking has a groove for the DeckWise clips and on the short side a tongue and groove profile.

Extreme4 is made of hardened stainless steel insert inside UV-and-chemical resistant polyethylene.
